Alumina spherulites are referred to as high-alumina spheres because of their high alumina content. According to the alumina content, the high-alumina ball can be subdivided into 90, 92, 95, 99 and other series.

High aluminum ball is widely used in the finishing and deep processing of thick and hard materials in different types of ceramics, enamels, glass, chemical and other factories due to its excellent characteristics such as high strength, high hardness, high wear resistance, heavy weight, small size, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-pollution, etc.

Take the 92% high aluminum ball as an example, its specific gravity (density) should be more than 3.60, the alumina content should be more than 92%, and the iron content should be low. With the same raw material, the same formula and the same firing temperature, the smaller the fineness of the powder after grinding, the higher the specific gravity and the better the wear resistance. The specific gravity of high alumina ball is mainly affected by powder and firing. Factors such as raw (undercooked), coarse powder, and addition of miscellaneous materials will lead to insufficient specific gravity of the ball. The spherulites with low specific gravity are not wear-resistant and easy to crack, but the spherulites with high specific gravity cannot be wear-resistant because the over-sintered spherulites can also reach a high specific gravity.

The most important quality of spherulites is abrasion resistance. Some testing institutions can also conduct abrasion tests. These test reports can show the quality of spherulites, but the data is only for reference, because the environmental conditions for laboratory testing and production are very different. First, the testing is water grinding, while many manufacturers are dry grinding; Secondly, most of the time, no other raw materials are put into the test, just the friction between the ball and the ball, and various raw materials are added in the actual production process. In the actual use process, in order to detect the wear of the ball, more records must be made. After the initial mixing, the wear of the ball in production can be calculated by recording the number of added balls and combining with the output, so as to compare the cost of the high aluminum ball with other grinding balls, and the quality of the ball among manufacturers. In addition to the hardness and fineness of the feed, the grinding method (such as dry grinding and wet grinding are different), the rotating speed of the ball mill, whether the ratio of the pellets is reasonable, and the viscosity of the feed are also considered.

In addition to the ceramic industry, quartz, chemical and other industries are also trying to use high-alumina balls for production. The quartz factory is mainly used to produce silica powder. Practice has proved that, if 325 mesh silica powder is produced, grinding with high aluminum ball instead of quartz ball can significantly improve the output and product quality, such as whiteness and uniformity, and because the loss rate is not as fast as that of quartz ball, the labor and time cost of adding spherulites is saved.
